But just like the “lazy” days of summer, Friday afternoons and other distracting times, can cause productivity to suffer because our minds are elsewhere. So during this most wonderful time of the year, we offer you these seven holiday productivity hacks. They’re helpful anytime of the year, but especially during the hustle and bustle of holiday sales.

Exercise. We know, we know, you have no time, but that’s when it’s more important than ever to find time. Exercise energizes, relieves stress and leaves you ready to tackle anything. Also: Christmas cookies.

Just say no. Sometimes the answer just has to be no. No, you can’t attend that party; no you can’t bake 50 cupcakes by tomorrow morning; no, you can’t take on that project just now. Make a list of priorities and stick to it as much as possible.

Keep cool, but not too cool.  When it’s freezing outside, entering a nice warm office can feel great, but make sure it’s not too warm in there or you, and everyone else could feel sluggish. OSHA recommends the temperature remain between 68-76 degrees Fahrenheit.

Wake up an hour early. It can be challenging at first to crawl out from under those warm, cozy covers early, but once you get in the habit, you realize just how beneficial that extra hour can be. If you do it five days a week, that’s five extra hours to exercise or cross other tasks off your list.

Sleep. On the other hand, don’t burn that proverbial midnight oil trying to cram everything. You need sleep to rest and recharge, especially if you’re getting up during that extra hour.

Alert! Alert! If every minute your phone is ringing, or your email is chiming, or your Slack channels are going crazy, how are you supposed to get anything done? When you need to focus, turn off notifications for a set period. You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish without all of the distractions.

Feel the holiday cheer. Have fun with a pumpkin-spiced treat. Embracing the season and all of its festivity can do a lot to boost your energy and prepare you tackle that to-do list while feeling almost as jolly as Old St. Nick with his list.
